The University of Calabar is a federal university situated in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. It is one of Nigeria's second-generation federal universities. The university was originally a campus of the University of Nigeria until 1975. Its motto is "Knowledge for Service." The architecture of the university was designed by John Elliott.

The present Vice Chancellor is Prof. Florence B. Obi. The DVC (Academic) is held by Prof. Angela Oyo Ita, while the DVC (Administration) is Prof. Grace Eno Nta.

The University of Calabar was one of the first Nigerian universities to automate students’ registration processes through a College Portal, and it has pioneered automated alumni relations including online transcript requests and processing.


University Library

The University of Calabar Library is the main academic library of the university. Established in 1975, it has become one of the largest and most comprehensive academic libraries in Nigeria, serving students, faculty, and researchers.
