History
Our Saviour Institute of Science, Agriculture and Technology (OSISATECH) is a privately owned polytechnic founded in 1989 by Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel Edeh, a Catholic priest renowned for establishing various educational institutions in Nigeria. In addition to OSISATECH, he also founded:
- Madonna University (Okija, Elele, and Enugu campuses)
- Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu
- Multiple secondary schools across the country
OSISATECH was one of the pioneering private institutions that benefited from the 1993 government decree outlining criteria for recognition of private universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Though it ranked low in the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) performance index for the 1999/2000 academic year, the institution has made notable progress. In November 2012, its College of Education received an award from the NCCE for Teachers Development in Nigeria.
Founder Rev. Fr. Edeh was also honored in December 2009 with the African Film Festival and Academy Award in London for his contributions to education and culture.
