9th National Assembly of Nigeria – Senate (2019–2023)
The Nigerian Senate in the 9th National Assembly is composed of 109 members:
- Three senators from each of the 36 states, and
- One senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Senate President is the head of the upper legislative chamber, supported by the Deputy Senate President. Together, they work with the principal officers, who represent both the majority and minority parties in the Senate.

Each zone comprises multiple states, each contributing three senators to the assembly.
Changes in Membership
During the term of the 9th Senate, various changes occurred due to: - Deaths - Court judgments - Party defections - By-elections
These changes altered the party composition and sometimes the regional balance of the Senate.
