Overview

Ifesinachi Comedy Nwanyanwu is a Nigerian visual artist, playwright, poet, and environmental activist. He was born in Nsukka, Nigeria. He is the curator of House 33 in Abuja and founder and Executive Director of the Environmental Art Collective Foundation (ENACOF). His creative efforts are focused on environmental sustainability through art, especially transforming waste into artistic creations.

He also serves as a Maker Librarian at the British Council under the Maker Library Network initiative. Among his active projects are tree planting campaigns, environmental cleanups, and children’s workshops.


Early Life

Born on 2 June 1975 in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria, Ifesinachi spent his formative years there. He holds a B.Sc in Crop Production from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He relocated to Abuja in the year 2000, where he observed the urgent need for a vibrant art scene in the capital city.


Career

Ifesinachi is the founder and Executive Director of ENACOF, and curator of the “One Environment” platform, which successfully hosted two editions of One Environment Hybrid in 2016 and 2017. These editions included roundtable seminars, art workshops for both professionals and children, cleanup events, and tree planting initiatives.

He is also co-founder and curator of the private gallery House 33, collaborating with Uzodinma Iweala, author of Beasts of No Nation.

As a cultural innovator, he has turned waste materials such as Dangote bags and cow dung into art, championing sustainability and environmental consciousness.
