The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is a statutory body of the Nigerian Government responsible for the regulation and management of companies in Nigeria. It was established in 1990 following the enactment of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).
The Commission is headed by a Chairman, and is closely assisted by the Registrar-General/Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Leadership
The current Registrar-General is Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
He was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 13 October 2023.
Board Composition
Prominent bodies and institutions represented on the CAC Board include:
- Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN)
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
- Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)
- Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
- Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment
- Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA)
- Federal Ministry of Justice
- Federal Ministry of Finance
Each of these organizations nominates top representatives to sit on the CAC Board.
Open Central Register of Beneficial Ownership
On Thursday, 25 May 2023, Nigeria launched its Open Central Register of Beneficial Ownership, also known as the Persons with Significant Control (PSC) Register.
This initiative aligns with Nigeria's anti-corruption commitment made at the Anti-Corruption Summit held in London on 12 May 2016.
